Since I receive very few questions here from my readers - I do have readers, right? I thought I would share something that has only today influenced my bloggy business. It’s called Question of the Day, and it’s a free application on the iTunes store for the iPhone, iPad and iTouch.
It began as a book (which can be purchased separately), but the application feeds me great writing prompts.
For example, check out the following. I’ll even answer for posterity.
What’s the oldest thing in your refrigerator?
That would have to be a jar of minced garlic. It can’t go bad, period.
* This is considered a “light question,” or one of the easiest to answer.
Who are you waiting to hear from?
Well, there’s several people, I suppose. Immediately, I’d say Starbucks, because I applied there over the weekend. But in a wider sense, friends from high school that have put me by the wayside, relatives… the only people that keep in constant contact are my close friends, my immediate family (also Cam’s family), and Cam.
* This is considered a “light to medium question,” meaning it shouldn’t necessarily require deep thought or consideration.
What comes easily to you that others seem to admire and/or envy?
Good Lord, I have no idea. I don’t really consider myself someone that inspires envy in anyone for any reason at all. I guess for the purpose of this question I’ll say acting; after my first audition for a play my senior year, I was cast as the lead over several students that had been taking theatre classes since middle school (myself having only taken a semester prior to the audition). There were certainly several girls that were upset with me (and the director) over the casting. It wasn’t like it was my fault! I hadn’t auditioned for that part specifically; I didn’t even expect to end up on the roster at all. Acting just feels natural to me, perhaps because I just have my head in the clouds (or a story) all the time.
* This is considered a “medium question,” or one that should consider some thought.
Who do you owe in life that you can never pay back?
My grandmother, most certainly. Not only can I never pay her generosity back because it was overwhelming, but she passed away last year, so I can’t even express my gratitude to her for all she’s done for me. Without her, I could not have afforded the opportunity of living on my own in college, or attending so nice a university; she funded my family’s entire trip to Scotland, which taught me a lot about myself, my family, and my relationship with Cameron. She means the world to me, but she’ll never know.
* This is considered a “heavy question” that should inspire deep contemplation.
Isn’t this interesting? I really enjoyed thinking about the questions provided by the application. Since it’s free, there’s no reason why you bloggers shouldn’t get out there and check it out. It’ll definitely inspire some new writing for you!
