Write one leaf in which you describe a color...
Of all the spectrum, the hue that delights me most is the one that dances on eyelids on sunny days - the one you can feel on warm skin, gently freckling its surface. It’s a solace from moments of uncertainty because it pulls one into a glorious harbor where the sun never sets. It makes you smile; it makes you shine. See it upon bicycles, mailboxes, see a school bus meandering along with its...

Big news for me!
I just finished declaring my double major - but I’m waiting for the “authentication” from the Dean. But, anyway… I am an English and Rhetoric major with a minor in Classical Civilizations! WHOO-HOO, AM I STOKED!

Write one leaf about Peter Pan.
(via writeoneleaf) Today I went to a Mythological Society meeting - more on that later - and this girl named Michael sitting across me from me said, “Did you cut your hair? It’s cute! That look is so Peter Pan.” I was like, what? And then I realized that she was completely correct.

Time to go slay a dragon.
By dragon, I mean my Italian exam. It’s a comprehensive review of everything we’ve done this semester, which pretty much freaks me out. It’s so difficult to remember the trapassato in regards to the passato prossimo and imperfetto. However - I have to tell myself that I should in fact be feeling quite confident, as my teacher last semester worked us to the bone, and I am in...

Write one leaf about being startled.
(via writeoneleaf) Yesterday, as I walked to class, I passed a significant amount of construction and traffic caused by the delay. Apparently someone wanted around all of it, because as I crossed a side-street (more like an alley, really) a bearded man in a red sports car nearly ran me over! I actually put my hand on the hood of his car, as though I thought I could somehow stop him. Had I walked...

Just how healthy are you?
This is a very cool thing that I was aware of about two years ago. It’s called MyPyramid, and it’s offered by the Department of Agriculture to help the general population understand what they should really be eating. It was mentioned again today in my Nutrition class, and I couldn’t help but wonder: Am I really eating as healthfully as I think I am? I became a vegetarian last...

John Mayer and the female anatomy.
Brittany: Ugh! John Mayer said this - "I see more assholes than a proctologist does in a week."
Kayla: Yeah, that was in Rolling Stone.
Brittany: What is he, gay?
Kayla: Women do have assholes, you know.
Brittany: Oh, right.

Distance from friends.
Something I truly hate is distance between only halfway friends. The halfway friend situation is a sticky one. I have the unfortunate habit of being too unconfident to approach people I want to be friends with, and thus, I end up never even speaking to said person. Then said person goes on to live glamorous life not knowing that I exist. It’s certainly depressing. It’s got me a...

Glee, we miss you.
Last semester, Wednesday night was my night for Glee-watching with my roomie, and also foreign film night for my Italian Cinema class. I would rush home after viewing black and white films about the tragedy of war, and then watch the bubble-gum centric Glee. This semester there is no Glee as of yet, and I miss it horribly. It was a welcome distraction.

Write one leaf about a doggie bag.
(via writeoneleaf) I would pretty much give anything to have a doggie bag from Chipotle or Olive Garden tonight. I’m starving and don’t really feel like fixing anything… I’ve got potatoes and fish in the freezer. I realize that fish isn’t really vegetarian, but I occasionally consume it when I either can’t concoct anything else to eat or am really out of...

Off to do Italian!
This is the last class I have before my mammoth review exam, which blows. Last night a group of Italianites and I had a study session, but all we really managed to do was blow time and get distracted. So, tonight. I’m thinking I might go to another study session, but only if I really stay focused. Coffee and studying for the win, this evening.

Regarding the iPad.
Cameron: Did you hear the name of Apple's new product yet?
Me: The mighty iTampon! Yeah, I heard it.
Cameron: I'm cracking up over here. Why'd they think that was a good idea?
Me: I don't know, babe. I thought it was funny, too.
Cameron: Do you think iffy Wi-Fi will be called iSpotting?

The request has been sent!
I’ve just emailed the Tumblr staff asking them to implement a student/college section on the Directory. If it was put into place, think I’d have a chance of getting featured? Who knows, but that would be way cool!

Dear Cameron, No.
I think it would be cool for other college students to see each other’s blogs using the new Directory function - not connect and be Myspace friends. Love you, dear. So, college section. I think it should happen. By the way, who exactly would I email to get this bad boy rolling?

Does anyone else agree?
I think it would be an excellent idea to include a “college” section in the new Directory. I like connecting with other students via Tumblr. Thoughts on the matter?

Write one leaf about something you will not eat.
(via writeoneleaf) I will not eat meat, at least not anymore. I started eating vegetarian in November of last year, about two weeks before Thanksgiving. That essentially means that I haven’t been doing it that long, but the change in my eating patterns has been monumental. I’m now aware of many foods that I would never have put in my grocery basket before, and I am more aware of the...

Ridiculous amounts of stuff to do.
I was supposed to wake up at seven something today to get a head start on all the homework I need to do before class, but I woke up at eight thirty instead. Now I’ve eaten breakfast, and I’ve got to shower and do all this crazy homework before my class at noon. I have time afterwards, too, but I’m going to devote that singularly to Italian. Hopefully I can get all this stuff...

Who offer to walk me home, thank you. I feel much safer with a friend; being sure I don’t get jumped when I get home late is a nice precaution. I’m sure it helps Cameron sleep easier.

Plans for tonight include the following.
That would be exclusively studying for my Italian exam on Thursday. I’m going to go get all juiced up on expensive coffee - Starbucks, here I come! And then we’ll embark on the journey that is cramming for a test for which we are all massively underprepared. My reasoning behind this is thus: every time our professor says anything, he gets a bunch of empty nods and the dead-fish look...

In Frederick's class.
Snooty sophomore girl: I live in the 21st Street Co-op.
Me: Is that the huge maroon building?
Snooty sophomore girl: Yeah, that's it.
Me: That's so cool! Do you like living there? What's it like?
Snooty sophomore girl: It's got a drug scene. If that's your thing, I guess.
Me: Uh -
Snooty sophomore girl: I didn't think so.

One point for love.
This morning as I was walking to class, I noticed someone walking behind me and trying to pass me. This happens often, as the sidewalks are not quite effective at managing the student body. I moved over a little, and he shuffled past. We were heading the same direction, and we crossed the street. Another man was jogging towards us, and the man in front of me rushed to kiss him. He shouted, I love...

A very early morning.
This morning Dooey woke me up at five and wanted to go outside. It was absolutely miserable. Five? That’s two hours after three, and that’s ungodly. She went outside, did her business, and then I clambered back into bed. I was probably asleep before my head hit the pillow, but I never got back to that nice, deep sleep. I kept waking up at every little noise or groan from Doo.
